Early Edition - June 2017

Towsontowne Rotary Club Early Edition for June 7, 2017. Enjoy...
Visiting Guests:
Kathi Terlizzese, past member of Annapolis Rotary Club and Vice President of Development and Communications for KeraLInk; Allen Stockbridge, Charter President; Harry Congdon, Clinical Social Worker with Living Legacy of Maryland; Doug Furlong, President and CEO of KeraLink International; Charles Young, Representing his wife, Jenette Young.
Announcements: Sandi announced the need for volunteers for the See 2 Learn project beginning around mid- September and ending in mid-October.  Four (4) volunteers are needed for each session. The sign up sheet was passed around. The schedule will be available by the end of July.  Training will be later in the summer. We would like to have  100% participation from Towsontowne Rotary members, but understand that it is not always possible for members to volunteer during day time hours.
Linda Tice reminded Rotarians that we are approaching the end of the fiscal year and are hoping that each of our members will donate to the Celebration of 100 Years of Rotary. If you have not made a donation, a minimum of $26.50 would help toward our 100% participation goal.
Health and Well Being: Presented by Keith. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jane and Ed.
Happy Dollars:
KeraLink was enthusiastically welcomed.
Linda and Kathleen are on their way to the Rotary Convention in Atlanta, June 10 - 14, 2017.
Speaker: Doug Furlong, Harry Congdon, and Mahmood elaborated on KeraLink‚Äôs mission to reverse corneal blindness globally. This is done in a collaborative effort that pairs the International Eye Bank, surgeons, researchers, benefactors, and donor families from organizations such as Maryland Living Legacy with the recipients. KeraLink sponsored several surgeons to teach local (Bangladesh) surgeons to perform transplants.
